Pop Punk Vocal Powerhouse Charlotte Sands Releases “Special”

We stan a pop-punk queen.

Massachusetts singer/songwriter Charlotte Sands has released an EP titled “Special.” The leading track also comes with a new music video that puts the singer in the back of an 18-wheeler shipping container going nuts to her song alongside her drummer. It is the energy we have been missing since the early 2000s and we really missed that energy. The context of the song is very personal and Sands really allows herself to be vulnerable with listeners.

“This is a song about a guy I was seeing who, immediately after telling me how ‘special’ I was, told me that he didn’t want to date me, and that we should just be friends. I drove home that night and started to realize how many times I had been called ‘special’ over the years by guys that ended up not wanting to be in a relationship with me, and I wrote ‘I’m so sick of being special’ in my notes. I thought the idea of thinking something is rare but not holding onto it was interesting, and that’s where the lyrics ‘it’s so easy how you let go, guess I’m not that fu***** special’ came from.”

Charlotte was raised on 2000s pop punk and is rooted in the lyricism of folk singer/songwriters. The entire EP effortlessly connects with listeners on a very deep level very quickly. You will move through the entire tracklist of “Special” and find yourself wanting more. Luckily there is an entire discography. Her other most recent single "Dress" has already amassed over 3 million streams in less than 3 months and also broke the Top 100 on the iTunes Pop Chart.
